ARCHITECT:

CONTRACTOR:
Howard Shockey & Sons

Project Overview

Located along I-66 in Fairfax County, the Monument Drive Commuter Parking Garage and Transit Center is an eight-level precast parking deck that provides approximately 820 parking spaces for DC commuters, and features two stair towers, an elevator, a bus transit center with eight bus bays, pick up and drop off for ridesharing, electric vehicle charging stations, and indoor and outdoor bicycle storage. A green roof at the top level of the deck features solar panels that power the facility, and decorative aluminum picket cladding ensures an eye-catching exterior façade. Metromont’s Winchester, VA plant produced 258,122 SF of precast concrete for this project. The project is the first in Virginia to achieve a Parksmart Silver certification from the US Green Building Council.

"Metromont’s team embraced our idea and got their whole team on board. It’s one thing for sales managers to want to make architects happy, but to have the plant manager, the finishing crew foreman and engineers fully engaged is something else. Metromont was extremely cooperative – the project was a win-win for everyone.”
