The Shenandoah University Parking Structure is the second precast parking structure built by Shockey Precast for the university. The new, three-story, 106,890-SF structure provides 251 parking spaces within the structure and an additional 95 spaces on an asphalt parking lot behind the structure. The lot is accessed by driving through the parking structure at the first level on grade. The first level also features four electronic vehicle parking spaces with charging stations.
Shockey Precast served as the precaster for several other Shenandoah University projects, including a parking structure and the new James R. Wilkins Jr. Athletics and Events Center, so the company was able to easily match the parking structure façade to the surrounding campus architecture. The flexibility and diversity of architectural precast finishes made it possible to provide a thin-brick façade that blended seamlessly with the nearby Athletics and Events Center, to even include two 6’ diameter precast Shenandoah University shields pre-molded into the top architectural wall panels at the stair towers.
