Valley Health’s Shenandoah Memorial Hospital project was originally planned as a steel frame structure with field-laid masonry and EIFS at exterior, but schedule and budget concerns made precast construction the better choice. The Shockey Precast Group manufactured and erected 17,258 SF of three-story architecturally finished precast walls with punched window openings and recesses for spandrel glass installation, which enabled most of the perimeter steel to be eliminated. Use of thin brick eliminated a large quantity of masonry work in the field. By combining the exterior wall system from steel and masonry into a single precast system, The Shockey Precast Group helped the Owner save time and money on the project.
