For the Fort Belvoir Commissary Project, The Shockey Precast Group produced 269 pieces of architectural precast, including 145 precast walls with thin-brick facade and 124 arched pieces of architectural precast with thin-brick facade. Due to the complexity of the project and the potential issues associated with the erection sequences, Shockey utilized TEKLA 3D modeling to guide precast production, establish precast erection sequence, and coordinate with precast erection subcontractor E.E. Marr, Inc., who handled erection of the entrance and exit vestibule components. Although the project was not without its bumps in the road, the use of TEKLA contributed to greater collaboration among Shockey Precast’s Engineering team and Field Services, as well as with other trades and subcontractors, and created a project flow that was remarkably smooth and successful for the complexity of the project.
