The Aberdeen Center for Excellence campus consists of eight buildings constructed under a design-build gross maximum price contract. Precast was chosen as an economical solution to clad the buildings and to meet the owner’s aesthetic vision for the campus. The Shockey Precast Group was selected for the design-build contract, and provided 376,000 SF of architectural cladding for six office buildings. Five of these six buildings were designed to have the exterior precast façade behave as the lateral force-resisting system for the buildings, resulting in significant cost savings for the owner.
