The Cornell University North Campus Residential Expansion Project in Ithaca, NY was recently selected as a winner in the AGC NY State’s 2022 Jeffrey J. Zogg Building Awards. The project was also recently named Engineering News-Record’s “NY Project of the Year” for 2022.
Shockey Precast produced a total of 1,544 insulated precast wall panels with more than 70,000 SF of terra cotta tiles supplied by Architectural Polymers within the 240,000 SF of architectural precast. Three colors of cast-in terra cotta tiles were used: red, grey, and black. The grey terra cotta tiles feature both flat and ribbed texture variations. The project was completed for Cornell University’s Fall 2021 semester and includes 2,000 beds for first- and second-year students, dining, recreation, and two social spaces organized in “villages” of three- to five-story buildings grouped around courtyards.
