“Though my 37-year career with Shockey Precast and Metromont, I’ve met and been mentored by many outstanding folks and have made numerous friends throughout the precast industry. I am blessed beyond description.”
David Orndorff was an engineering student at the University of Maryland when he first came to Shockey Precast (then Shockey Bros.) through a co-op program in 1981. For two-and-a-half years he alternated semesters of classes at UMD with semesters of working as a drafter at Shockey Precast. After graduation and gaining other construction experience, David joined Shockey Precast full-time in 1985 as a structural engineer. He gradually took on engineering tasks, becoming more involved in the design of large, complex projects after he obtained his professional engineer licensure. As the arc of his career continued to expand, he moved into engineering department management, and eventually, was promoted to Vice President, Engineering. “Our company is customer-focused and treats its associates like family. Through my 37-year career with Shockey Precast and Metromont, I’ve met and been mentored by many outstanding folks and have made numerous friends throughout the precast industry. I’d say my career has featured a steady trajectory of greater challenge, broader responsibility and influence, and considerable reward. I am blessed beyond description.”
